PDX, an industry leading supplier of pharmacy management software for nearly 20 years, provides chain and independent pharmacies with innovation, technology, and the means for pharmacies to fulfill their patient's information needs. For over 10 years PDX has supported Intercon's prescription warning label products (Rx Fonts) on printer flash memory cards, cartridges, SIMMs, DIMMs, Daughter Cards and CompactFlash.
Most pharmacies print warning labels and barcodes by utilizing custom programmed, printer resident, flash memory cards. The downside of this technology is that these devices are printer specific, often requiring different memory cards when pharmacies purchase new printers. Also, updating the memory card with the latest warning label messages is time consuming, costly and can be technically challenging. This may result in pharmacies not updating over time, which translates into your patients not receiving the best warning information for the medication they are receiving.
Today the solution is Intercon's E-Script Prescription Warning Label Software. E-Script is integrated into the PDX 4.6.02 application and delivers accurate and up-to-date prescription warning labels. Because it is software, E-Script can be easily managed to include new warning label messages published by health data providers as this information becomes available. Frequent file updates ensure that complete and accurate warning labels, barcodes and other images are available to the pharmacy. This new and efficient way of printing warning labels has numerous benefits, including:
- Eliminates expensive, printer dependent, media (SIMMs/DIMMs) and the need to update them along with their chance of failure.
- Warning label updates are included and done automatically because they are part of the PDX application and done during normal software updates.
- Provides the flexibility to change or add printers without again having to buy new SIMMs/DIMMs.
